Jerusalem, 9 January, 2024 (TPS) -- Israeli actor and musician Idan Amedi, best known for starring in the hit Netflix show ‘Fauda,’ was injured while fighting in Gaza on Monday.

“We would like to share with everyone that Idan has been injured in action in Gaza. Idan is one of the kindest, warmest, and most passionate people, loved by all of us. His love of music is a very special part of our set,” the television show said on social media. “Together let us pray for his full and speedy recovery.”

The 35 year-old Amedi plays agent Sagi Tzur in the drama about an elite undercover team trying to track down a notorious Palestinian terrorist. Amedi joined the cast in 2017.

Amedi was serving as a reservist in the Combat Engineering Corps when he was injured. Amedi’s father told Israeli media that he was airlifted to Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer, where surgeons removed shrapnel from his body. His condition is not thought to be life-threatening.

The artist has posted about his reserve duty on Instagram. “A moment after rehearsals with the band, I got on a uniform and went to the reserves,” he wrote in one post. “Singing during the day, fighting at night. Hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.”

Amedi, who is of Kurdish descent, is a popular singer and has recorded five albums since 2011. His most popular song, “A Warrior’s Pain,” about the post-traumatic experiences of a soldier returning from war, was one of Israel’s most popular songs in 2010.

He lives in Jerusalem with his wife and two children.
