Jerusalem, 23 December, 2020 (TPS) -- IDF forces on Tuesday night arrested a suspect in connection with a terror attack carried out in Jerusalem earlier this week.

The IDF stated Wednesday that its forces entered the village of Kabatiya, near the city of Jenin, for searches at the home of the terrorist Abu Ahmad Rob, who carried out the shooting attack at the Lions’ Gate in Jerusalem on Monday.

During the search, a man suspected of assisting Rob was arrested and weapons were seized.

During the operation, a riot broke out with the participation of dozens of Arabs who set roadblocks and threw Molotov cocktails and rocks at the Israeli forces. In addition, gunfire was heard in the area of the operation.

The Israeli forces responded with crowd control means.

Rob fired at policemen near the Lion’s Gate in Jerusalem Old City and then fled. Israeli forces quickly tracked him down and shot him dead.

One of policeman slipped during the chase and was treated for light wounds.

Reports indicate that another man suspected of aiding Rob was arrested shortly after the attack on the Temple Mount.
