IDF Confirms Strikes on Iranian Targets

Public By TPS-IL • 26 October, 2024

Jerusalem, 26 October, 2024 (TPS) -- In an official statement released early Friday night, IDF Spokesman Daniel Hagari personally confirmed that Israel has initiated a wave of strikes against Iran.

“Good night and Shabbat Shalom,” Hagari stated. “I would like to inform you at this late hour that the IDF is currently conducting precision strikes against military targets in Iran. These operations are in response to the Iranian regime’s continued attacks against Israel in recent months and are being carried out under the direction of the political leadership.”

The White House issued a statement early Saturday confirming that Israel is conducting targeted strikes against military objectives in Iran as part of its right to self-defense and in response to Iran’s missile attack on October 1st. According to senior American officials, Israel had notified the White House several hours in advance about the timing of the strikes against Iran.

The spokesman emphasized that the IDF maintains full operational readiness in both offensive and defensive capacities. “We are monitoring developments from Iran and its proxies in the region,” he added.

In recent weeks, intensive discussions have been held between Israel and the United States regarding the nature and scope of the strikes. In preparation for potential responses, the US has deployed several defense systems to Israel, including the advanced THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) anti-missile system to assist in intercepting ballistic missiles and defend the country against potential threats, such as attacks from Iran.

Regarding the home front, Hagari stated there are currently no changes to existing Home Front Command instructions but urged citizens to remain vigilant and follow any directives issued.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Defense Minister, and senior defense officials convened in the situation room at the Kirya military headquarters in Tel Aviv to oversee what military sources described as a “historic operation.” Military officials indicated that “the operation is focused on military targets and will continue in waves.”
