IDF Neutralizes IED On Gaza Border

By TPS • 1 March, 2018

Jerusalem, 1 March, 2018 (TPS) -- IDF forces neutralized Thursday morning an improvised explosive device (IED) placed adjacent to the security fence in the southern Gaza Strip, nearby to where another device left four soldiers injured earlier this month.

The bomb neutralized Thursday is believed to have been placed during riots along the border on February 16, which were also used as cover to place the IED that seriously wounded two soldiers from the IDF bomb disposal unit the following day and left another two soldiers with moderate to light wounds.

In response to that incident, the IDF launched one of the largest strikes against targets in the Gaza Strip since the 2014 Gaza War, among them a Hamas attack tunnel running from the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City toward Israeli territory, and Hamas military compounds in the Netzarim and Khan Younes regions.
