International Pharmacology Research Lab Launched at Baku State University

Jerusalem, 29 October, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – An international research laboratory in Pharmacological Microbiology is being established at the Center of Excellence for Research, Development and Innovation of Baku State University (BSU) in collaboration with Ajman University in the United Arab Emirates.

The university told AZERTAC that the BSU Academic Council made a decision on this.

The new laboratory will also collaborate with Koç University in Turkey.

The laboratory will conduct fundamental and applied research at the intersection of modern microbiology and pharmacology. The antimicrobial effects of various synthetic and semi-synthetic compounds against microorganisms, especially clinical and reference bacterial strains, will be studied, the mechanisms of action of these compounds will be analyzed, and the initial selection of new potential antimicrobial drugs will be carried out.

At the same time, the laboratory will serve the integration of the educational and research process, the implementation of grant projects, and the commercialization of scientific results.
