Iran Fires Fourth Missile Barrage Since Midnight as Israel Intensifies Air Campaign
Jerusalem, 8 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Air raid sirens sounded across central and southern Israel on Sunday morning as Iran launched another round of ballistic missiles toward the country, sending millions of residents rushing to bomb shelters.
The Israel Defense Forces said the missiles were successfully intercepted and there were no immediate reports of injuries or significant damage. Fragments from the interceptions fell in unpopulated areas, according to reports.
The barrage marked the fourth Iranian ballistic missile attack since midnight. About 45 minutes after the first alert on Sunday morning, residents in southern Israel received another warning of additional launches from Iran.
The missile fire came as Israel continued a broad air campaign against Iranian military targets.
Earlier Sunday, the IDF announced that it had “initiated a wave of strikes targeting the Iranian terror regime’s military infrastructure across Iran.”
Among the targets hit Saturday were several Iranian F-14 fighter jets at Isfahan Airport. The U.S.-made aircraft were originally supplied to Iran before the 1979 Islamic Revolution and remain among the most recognizable platforms in the Iranian air force.
The military said the strike also destroyed air defense and detection systems that posed a threat to Israeli aircraft operating over Iran.
“The destruction of these aircraft is part of the effort to strengthen Israel’s control of the skies over Iran,” the IDF said.
The strike followed another attack on Friday that the military said destroyed 16 aircraft used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force at Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport and fuel storage facilities near the Iranian capital. The IDF said the fuel tanks were used by the Iranian military.
The IDF said Saturday night that it also destroyed the headquarters of the Quds Force, the Revolutionary Guards’ overseas arm responsible for coordinating Iranian activities across the Middle East.
In a separate development, the Israeli military confirmed it carried out a targeted strike in Beirut that reportedly killed at least four people at a hotel. According to the IDF, the strike targeted senior commanders from the Quds Force’s Lebanon Corps.
“The targets were key commanders who acted to advance terror plans against the State of Israel and its citizens from Lebanese territory,” the military said.
The IDF accused Iran of embedding its forces among civilian populations in both Iran and Lebanon, saying the IRGC was “cynically exploiting residents and using them as human shields to further terrorist objectives.”
The IDF added that the strikes were conducted using precision-guided weapons and aerial surveillance in an effort to minimize the risk to civilians.
