Israel, Azerbaijan Expand Cooperation in Field of Innovation
Jerusalem, 9 April, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- (AZERTAC) – The leadership of Azerbaijan’s Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDIA) is on a working visit to Israel.
The agency told AZERTAC that during the visit, IRIA Board Chairman Farid Osmanov held productive meetings in Israel.
The first meeting took place with the leadership of Mobileye, one of the global leaders in autonomous driving and artificial intelligence technologies. Mobileye currently cooperates with more than 50 automakers and its technologies are applied in more than 800 million vehicles worldwide.
During the meeting, Mobileye’s strategic development model, research activities, and experience in public-private sector cooperation were presented. Cooperation opportunities in line with Azerbaijan’s digital transformation and innovation agenda were also widely discussed. It was noted that such partnerships are of great importance in terms of transferring high technologies to the country, developing the innovation ecosystem, and accelerating digital reforms.
Later, the delegation held a meeting with the management of the “OurCrowd” platform, one of the leading venture funds in Israel. The meeting provided detailed information on the potential of the Azerbaijani startup ecosystem, the state’s mechanisms for supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, venture financing infrastructure, and operating investment funds. The parties assessed the opportunities for cooperation in the implementation of joint investment projects, the transfer of advanced technologies to Azerbaijan, as well as the exchange of experience and knowledge between startups. Azerbaijani representatives emphasized the strategic importance of familiarization with the developed innovation environment of Israel and strengthening cooperation in this area.
OurCrowd is an international platform that invests in startups operating in various technology fields around the world and has funded hundreds of projects to date.
During the visit, a meeting was also held with the management of Checkpoint, one of the world’s leading cybersecurity companies. Discussed were the establishment of Cybersecurity Operations Centers in Azerbaijan, the establishment of a cybersecurity academy, and the possibilities of implementing Checkpoint’s advanced technological solutions. Also spotlighted were the expansion of the company’s activities in Azerbaijan and the deepening of cooperation through local partnerships.
