Israel Prepares to Bring Holy Easter Light to Bucharest Despite War

Jerusalem, 25 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Bucharest (Agerpres) – Israel is taking “all the steps” to bring the Holy Easter Light from Jerusalem to Bucharest under current security conditions, the Israeli Embassy announced on Tuesday.

“Despite the security challenges generated by Iran’s repeated attempts to target the holy sites in Jerusalem, logistical preparations for this special moment are already underway. Israeli authorities are working to ensure the necessary conditions for the safe conduct of this ancient and significant tradition. The Romanian Embassy in Israel, as well as the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs have also been informed of these steps,” Israeli ambassador in Bucharest Lior Ben Dor wrote on Facebook.

He added that Israel reaffirms its unwavering commitment to protecting the holy sites and guaranteeing religious freedom for all communities.

“Our embassy also expresses its desire to celebrate the bringing of the Holy Light from Jerusalem together with millions of believers from Romania,” the ambassador said.
