Israeli Airports Face Flight Restrictions Amid Gaza War
Jerusalem, 7 October, 2023 (TPS) -- Israeli airports, including the gateway Ben-Gurion International Airport, were closed to private flights and sports flights on Saturday amid a barrage of Palestinian rockets.
Ben-Gurion Airport, Israel’s national gateway remains open, as is the Ramon Airport near Eilat. Both are operating in accordance with security and safety guidelines. Passengers are strongly advised to stay updated regarding flight schedules through the Israel Airports Authority website and various airlines.
Other airfields in Rosh Pina, and Herzliya were closed for private flights and sports flights.
The restrictions come at a busy time for Israeli tourism. Thousands of travelers came to Israel to celebrate the week-long holiday of Sukkot, which ended on Saturday at sundown. The immediate days after Sukkot are traditionally busy days at Ben-Gurion.
