Israeli, Azerbaijani Universities Announce Joint Master’s Degree in Plant Biotechnology
Jerusalem, 23 July, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) – Baku State University and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI) are announcing admissions to a joint dual degree program in biotechnology with a specialization in plant biotechnology.

HUJI is a leading educational and scientific institution, ranked in the TOP 300 in the world ranking, founded by Albert Einstein and the famous biochemist, the first president of Israel, Chaim Weizmann. This program offers extensive opportunities for those who want to obtain a master’s degree from two internationally recognized universities, work with leading scientists from the world, and develop their scientific activities in a global academic environment.
Within the framework of the program, students obtain master’s degrees from two prestigious universities, receive internationally recognized education, benefit from research opportunities in modern laboratories, collaborate with the world’s leading scientists and researchers, gain broad international perspectives for academic and professional careers, and receive full funding for education and living expenses.
Individuals with bachelor’s degrees in biology, biology teaching, chemistry, chemistry teaching, chemical engineering, physics, physics teaching, and ecology, as well as those who have been admitted to a master’s degree at one of the higher education institutions of Azerbaijan in the current year, can apply for the dual diploma program.
The main requirements for candidates are a GPA of 80 or higher, as well as a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 89. Candidates who plan to obtain one of these language certificates in the near future are also welcome to apply.
The international dual diploma program is financed at state expense within the framework of the Presidential Decree “On additional measures to increase the international competitiveness of the higher education system in the Republic of Azerbaijan” dated July 22, 2025.
