Israeli Citizen Indicted for Collaborating with Iran
Jerusalem, 9 December, 2024 (TPS-IL) -- Israeli security forces arrested a 33-year-old man accused of carrying out tasks for Iranian intelligence, it was cleared for publication on Monday.
Artem Zolotarev, from the northern town of Nof HaGalil, was arrested in November. An indictment was filed against him in Nazareth District Court.
Zolotarev is accused of setting fire to vehicles, damaging property, and anti-government graffiti in exchange for thousands of dollars in cryptocurrency.
Zolotarev was reportedly contacted online by an Iranian handler, “Eliad,” who directed him to perform these tasks. After realizing “Eliad” was an Iranian agent, Zolotarev was offered $125,000 to commit murder and escape to Russia or Iran, but he refused.
Despite this, Zolotarev continued carrying out acts of arson and graffiti under the direction of another Iranian handler.
