Israeli Man Charged With Using Fake ATMS to Steal Credit Card Information

Jerusalem, 28 November, 2023 (TPS) -- The Israeli Police announced on Tuesday the arrest of a man charged with using counterfeit ATM machines to duplicate credit cards and steal hundreds of thousands of shekels.

“This is a defendant who acted in a systematic and serial manner and thus duplicated, forged and took money from the bank accounts of many citizens. Alongside legal proceedings against the suspect and the completion of the investigation, we recommend that the public closely monitor their bank accounts and promptly report any unusual activity that is not recognized in their accounts,” said Commander Eli Livkind of the Fraud Unit.

Police said the suspect used his home in Holon and a second apartment in Petach Tikva to copy and forge credit cards using specialized equipment.

Authorities said the suspect was apprehended while attempting another fraudulent operation at an ATM in Bat Yam.
