Jerusalem, 18 November, 2024 (TPS-IL) -- Israeli reservists in southern Lebanon destroyed dozens of launchers, rockets and weapons in an area from which hundreds of missiles were fired, the Israel Defense Forces disclosed on Monday.

Soldiers of the 226th Reserve Brigade continued their operations searching for Hezbollah complexes, rocket launchers, weapons stockpiles and military equipment.

In one of searches, the reservists found and destroyed an underground Hezbollah facility containing living rooms, food, a kitchen and many weapons.

Meanwhile, a 65-year-old Israeli woman was injured during a Hezbollah rocket barrage on Monday. Magen David Adom emergency responders said the victim was hospitalized after being hit in the neck by shrapnel.

The previous day, the IDF and Hezbollah both confirmed that Hezbollah propaganda chief Mohammed Afif was killed in an airstrike in Beirut.

“Since the beginning of the war, Afif wielded significant influence over Hezbollah’s military operations. He was in contact with senior officials and directly involved in advancing and executing Hezbollah’s terrorist activities against Israel,” the IDF said.

“Messages broadcast by Afif to the Lebanese media glorified and incited terrorist activities against the State of Israel, and he was responsible for numerous psychological terror operations against the Israeli public,” the IDF added.

After the Hamas attacks of October 7, 2023, Hezbollah began launching rockets and launching drones at northern Israel communities daily. More than 68,000 residents of northern Israel are displaced from their homes. Hezbollah leaders have repeatedly said they would continue the attacks to prevent Israelis from returning to their homes.

According to United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, which ended the 2006 Second Lebanon War, Hezbollah is forbidden from operating in southern Lebanon south of the Litani River.

At least 1,200 people were killed, and 252 Israelis and foreigners were taken hostage in Hamas’s attacks on Israeli communities near the Gaza border on October 7. Of the 97 remaining hostages, more than 30 have been declared dead. Hamas has also been holding captive two Israeli civilians since 2014 and 2015, and the bodies of two soldiers killed in 2014.
