Israeli Strike Kills Commander of Hezbollahs’ Elite Radwan Force
Jerusalem, 8 April, 2024 (TPS) -- Israeli aircraft killed a commander in Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force in an overnight airstrike in Southern Lebanese village of Sultaniyeh, the Israel Defense Forces said on Monday.
Ali Ahmed Hassin commanded Radwan Forces in Lebanon’s Hajir region with the rank equivalent to a brigade commander. In his role, Hassin was responsible for planning and carrying out terror attacks against civilians in northern Israel.
Two other Hezbollah terrorists were killed with Hassin.
The Radwan Force, is considered one of the most skilled and highly trained units within Hezbollah. It is believed to have gained extensive experience fighting in Syria’s civil war, particularly in reconnaissance, infiltration behind enemy lines, and urban warfare tactics.
The Radwan Force is believed to have 8,000 members.
Since October 7, the Iran-backed Hezbollah terror group has fired more than 3,100 rockets at northern Israel.
Hezbollah leaders have suggested that they will continue to fire rockets to prevent thousands of residents of northern Israel from returning to their homes. Israeli officials have been calling for Hezbollah to be disarmed and removed from Southern Lebanon in accordance with UN Security Council resolution 1701, which ended the 2006 war.
