Israeli Tourist on Ventilator After Italian Cable Car Tragedy

Jerusalem, 18 April, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- (Adnkronos) – A 30-year-old Israeli tourist who survived Thursday’s Monte Faito cable car tragedy in Naples remains in critical condition, hospital officials said on Friday.

“His conditions are considered critical and the prognosis remains reserved,” the Ospedale del Mare announced.

The hospital added that the patient is on a ventilator and that several fractures to the lower limbs were found. More tests will be done to determine the full extent of the injuries.

Four people lost their lives : an Australian tourist, an English couple and Carmine Parlato, the 59-year-old driver of the cableway that leads from the Castellammare di Stabia station to Mount Faito.

The cable car apparently came loose a few meters from the station when it fell and rolled down the mountainside.

Sixteen people aboard the following cabin were rescued.
