Jerusalem, 21 August, 2019 (TPS) -- Israeli windsurfer Katy Spychakov on Wednesday won the bronze medal in the RS:X Women’s competition in Enoshima, Japan.

The competition took place as part of the ‘Ready Steady Tokyo – Sailing’, a pre-Olympic event intended to simulate the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and forecast the success of the participators in the Olympic games.

Enoshima will host the windsurfing competitions of the Olympics, so the event is said to be a particularly good indicator of the surfers’ preparation for the Olympics.

Spychakov’s achievement in the tournament cements her at first place on the list of Israeli athletes competing for the chance to represent Israel in the Olympics. The bronze medal was worth 18 points to Spychakov, bringing her to a total of 26 points, far ahead of all other Israeli surfers who hope to qualify for the Olympics.
