Jerusalem, 2 January, 2017 (TPS) -- Education Minister Naftali Bennett referenced late prime ministers Levi Eshkol Regional Council, Yitzhak Rabin and Menachem Begin Monday in calling for Israeli law to be applied to Ma’aleh Adumim.

Speaking at a special Jewish Home faction meeting in the city, Bennet said “After 50 years the time has come to end military government here. To that end, by the end of this month we will table a bill to apply Israeli law to Judea and Samaria and we will begin a new path… I expect all my colleagues in the government to support this important initiative.”

Bennett added that the State of Israel has paid an exorbitant price for the what he called a Palestinian state policy, and said the time has come for Israeli sovereignty instead of withdrawals.

“Israeli citizens have lost thousands of victims [to terrorism and war], sustained thousands of missile attacks and countless denunciations as a result of the flawed State of Palestine,” Bennett said.
