Kazanlak will host the 18th Antonio Stradivari International Triennale Violin Making Competition during the Rose Festival in 2025, Town Hall said in a press release on Tuesday.

Some of the most renowned luthiers from three continents will come to Kazanlak for this iconic event named after the famous luthier Antonio Stradivari. The competition has been held for 90 years and has mainly taken place in Cremona, Stradivari’s hometown in Italy.

“We chose Kazanlak because of the hospitality and our fruitful work with Kazanlak Mayor Galina Stoyanova,” said Gualtiero Nicolini, Chair of the Italian Violinmaking Association, who organizes the event and was among the guests in Kazanlak during the Rose Festival in 2024.

For the competition, a Stradivari violin made in Cremona in 1730 by Stradivari himself will arrive in Kazanlak, and residents and guests of the town will have the opportunity to hear its sound, which distinguishes it from all other instruments in history.
