Labor Minister Shalapatova, Israeli Ambassador Discuss Cooperation in Field of Labor, Social Policy

Minister of Labor and Social Policy Ivanka Shalapatova met with Israeli Ambassador to Bulgaria Yoram Elron, the Ministry said on Thursday. The two highly appreciated the bilateral cooperation in the field of labor and social policy and discussed the opportunities for its development in the future.

The main topic of the talks was policies of unemployment reduction among young people and measures to promote their inclusion in the labor market. Minister Shalapatova presented the priorities of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy related to the preparation of an analysis to measure the impact of social payments in order to make support for vulnerable groups more effective, targeted and comprehensive.

“Our main priorities are the continuation of the deinstitutionalization of care for children, the elderly and people with disabilities”, Shalapatova stressed. “Our goal is to improve policies for them in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Science and to build a network of quality social, educational and health services to provide them with better care and living conditions,” she added.

At the end of his mandate in Bulgaria, Ambassador Yoram Elron thanked Minister Shalapatova for the excellent cooperation in the field of children’s rights protection. He invited the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy to join the international network established by Israel to exchange information, experience and ideas in the field of labor, employment and social policy.
