LIVE UPDATES: Shooting At Ofra Junction

Jerusalem, 20 December, 2018 (TPS) -- 20:54 A gunman has opened fire at a petrol station at the Ofra Junction. According to early reports the shots were fired from the direction of the Palestinian village of Ein Yabrud. An IDF spokesman said the IDF was looking into the reports.

20:56 “We heard the shots and dived to take cover behind concrete blocks at the hitchhiking station,” Omer Mozes and Aviad Ohayan, two eyewitnesses to the shooting, told TPS.

21:20 An IDF spokesman confirmed that the source of the gunfire had been from the Palestinian village of Ein Yabrud and said troops had returned fire and were conducting a search of the area.

21:21 The Magen David Adom Ambulance Service reported that one person was being treated for shock.

21:33 According to unconfirmed Palestinian reports,  a Palestinian man has been shot and arrested in the village of Ein Yabroud from where gunshots were fired at the Ofra Junction earlier.

21:45 Another report said that the shooting had in fact taken place after a Palestinian crashed a checkpoint on the way to Beit El , some 15 kilometers from the Ofra incident, and had died of his wounds.

22:00 The IDF confirmed that troops had opened fire on a Palestinian vehicle that crashed the Focus Checkpoint leading from Ramallah to Route 60.
