Jerusalem, 30 October, 2024 (TPS) -- Israeli customs inspectors at Ben-Gurion Airport caught a man trying to sneak 30 live crabs along with other fish into Israel, the Israeli Tax Authority said on Wednesday.

The man, a Chinese national, arrived on a flight from Dubai with a large styrofoam box which aroused the suspicion of the airport officials.

Inside the box were 30 live crabs, 100 mussels, and over 1.6 kg of shrimp.

Inspectors also found in the man’s luggage several boxes of saffron, cigars, and cigarettes in an amount exceeding legal limits.

It is forbidden to bring live food into Israel without the required permits.
