Jerusalem, 15 March, 2016 (TPS) -- Approximately 15 Members of Knesset partook from a strictly vegan meal served in the Knesset this afternoon, in marking of “animal rights day.”

The meal, initiated by MK Tamar Zandberg (Meretz) consisted of eggplant lasagna with soy and tomatoes, traditionally-styled tofu cutlets style traditional fish dish chraime, Indian curry tofu, stuffed with rice and lentils as well as polenta with mushrooms and nuts.

“This is Israeli food, tasty, fresh, varied and even very cheap,” said MK Zandberg.  “We must continue to raise awareness of the topic of vegan food.”

All the MKs who attended the meal called for a need to adopt eating habits that would cause less harm to animal life.
