“Currently, Bulgaria has over 400 companies which work in the sectors of mechatronics, electronics and microelectronics. These are export-oriented companies and have some of the most modern productions,” said Economy Minister Bogdan Bogdanov at the Forum Microelectronics & Mechatronics 2023: Shaping the Future of Technology, quoted by his ministry on Thursday.

The event is organized by the Cluster of Microelectronics and Industrial Electronic Systems, Sofia’s Technical University and the Mechatronics and Automation Cluster.

“The companies from the sector enable their employees to work in modern sectors and implement innovative projects,” added Bogdanov. According to him, the sectors of mechatronics, electronics and microelectronics are traditional for Bulgaria and the country has a clear vision for the development of their potential. “One of our priorities is to set a good example, because they are a catalyst of the future development,” he said.

„During challenging times, the state and the business should work as quickly as possible so that we understand their needs, open new markets and minimize the risks“, he said. During the forum the Minister underscores that in order to ensure the economic development of the country, the business, the public sector and the educational institutions should share the same vision.

The event brings together leading companies in the field of microelectronics and mechatronics, universities in Bulgaria and Europe, experts from Bulgaria and abroad and politicians who are involved with the development of the industry, education, research, innovation and the transfer of technologies.
