Netanyahu says goal of attack on Iran is regime change

As air raid sirens sounded throughout Israel Saturday morning and the civilian population headed to bomb shelters, Prime Minister Netanyahu announced that Israel and the United States are hoping to achieve nothing less than regime change in Iran.

In a statement issued Saturday morning, Netanyahu said the goal of the attacks on Iran is “to remove the existential threat” posed by the Islamic Republic, and “create the conditions” for the Iranian people to take back their country.

“This murderous terror regime must not be allowed to arm itself with nuclear weapons that would enable it to threaten all of humanity,” Netanyahu said. “Our joint action will create the conditions for the brave Iranian people to take their destiny into their own hands……The time has come for all parts of the Iranian people — the Persians, the Kurds, the Azeris, the Baloch, and the Ahwazi — to cast off the yoke of tyranny and bring about a free and peace-seeking Iran.”

The first sirens sounded in Israel at 8:15 Saturday morning, after the Israeli and American coordinted attacks on Iran had begun.

Media has announced that besides strikes on Tehran, attacks on Qom, Isfahan, Kermanshah and Karaj have been reported.

In the meantime, sirens continue to sound throughout Israel as Iran sends volleys of ballistic missiles at the Jewish state.
