Jerusalem, 29 May, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- The Schneider Children’s Hospital said that Ravid Haim Gez, the two-week-old baby of Tzeela Gez who was murdered in a shooting attack, has died.

“Ravid was hospitalized in critical condition in the neonatal intensive care unit at the Schneider Children’s Center, and the medical team treated him with dedication the entire time and fought for his life. Unfortunately, despite the many efforts, the hospital was forced to declare his death in the last few hours,” the Petah Tikva hospital said.

Tzeela Gez, who was in the ninth month of pregnancy, was shot on May 15 when a Palestinian fired on Israeli vehicles near her community of Bruchin, in northern Samaria. She was traveling with her husband, Hananel, to deliver their fourth child. Medics rushed her to Rabin Medical Center in Petah Tikva, where doctors performed an emergency cesarean section in a desperate effort to save both mother and child.

The baby was delivered in serious condition and transferred to Schneider Children’s Hospital in the same medical compound.

Israeli officials reacted with grief to the news.

“There are no words that can comfort the murder of a newborn baby along with his mother. The heroism of the pioneers of settlement in Judea and Samaria and their dedication is what will defeat all our enemies,” said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Meital Ben Yosef, chairman of the Bruchin community, said, “The Bruchin community is in pain and mourning the passing of the baby Ravid Chaim ben Tzeela. A baby who was supposed to be born and enter the world with great joy and anticipation, breathed his last this morning after teetering between life and death since the day he was born exactly two weeks ago.”

Yossi Dagan, head of the Samaria Regional Council, called on the army to demolish illegal Palestinian buildings that he said endanger Israeli drivers, and for the construction of homes in Judea and Samaria in response to the baby’s death.

The terrorist, Nael Samara, was killed by the Israeli soldiers on May 17 when he ran at soldiers carrying a backpack they suspected was booby trapped.
