Jerusalem, 14 October, 2023 (TPS) -- On the eighth day of the war in the Gaza Strip, the Israel Defense Forces, the IDF, continued to urge the population of Gaza to move to the south prior to the expected land invasion.

In recent days, the IDF called upon the residents of Gaza City to leave their homes, as Israel has begun military activities following the terror attack in Israel on October 7, which left 1,300 killed, 3,300 wounded, and at least 120 Israelis kidnapped.

IDF officials reported that the Gaza population has been notified to leave the area through a variety of platforms, including social media and text messaging, in order to minimize the harm to civilians.

Hamas terrorists are hiding in tunnels under houses in Gaza City, as well as inside buildings with many civilians, said Israeli officials.
The IDF added that civilians are leaving Gaza City, despite the attempts of the terrorist organization Hamas to prevent their evacuation, with the aim of again using them as human shields.

Also on Saturday, army officials confirmed that the IDF destroyed a terrorist squad as it attempted to infiltrate into Israel from Lebanon.

IDF surveillance units detected the terrorist cell as it sought to break through border fences and enter Israeli territory from Lebanon.

Officials said the terrorists were killed by an IDF remotely piloted aircraft.

Meanwhile, the IDF spokesperson’s office announced on Saturday that the IDF continued to attack military targets throughout the Gaza Strip, as IDF fighter jets attacked dozens of military targets and members of the terrorist organization Hamas, who were stationed in Hamas bases throughout the Gaza Strip on Friday tonight.

Also on Friday, IDF warplanes attacked the headquarters of the Hamas aerial activities. During the attack, Murad Abu Murad, the head of the air formation in Gaza City who took a large part and directed terrorists in the murderous attack on Saturday, was killed.

Also, a message has been released by the Prime Minister’s Office on behalf of the office in charge of the abducted and missing persons.

The message noted that a team of about 200 reserve army officers was established to maintain direct contact with the families of the missing.

Appointed to head the unit, called the Kidnapped and Missing Persons Task Force, is Brigadier General Gal Hirsch.

“We will physically come to all the families of the missing to provide answers and establish personal contact. We have recruited for this important and sensitive task senior and experienced officers and personalities who come to the families to help in this time of uncertainty,” said Hirsch, in a statement.

Another announcement on Saturday, by the IDF spokesperson and Shin Bet spokespersons office, said the IDF and the Shin Bet killed a commander in the Hamas Nakhaba unit who led the terrorist attack on the settlements in the Gaza area.

IDF aircraft, receiving intelligence from the Shin Bet and Amman military intelligence, killed Ali Kachi, commander of the Najaba force within Hamas.

In 2005, Ali was arrested following a kidnapping and the murder of Israelis, and later returned as part of the agreement to release kidnapped Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.
