Jerusalem, 19 February, 2024 (TPS) -- Israel has carried out more than 31,000 airstrikes in Gaza and Lebanon since October 7, the Israel Defense Forces said on Monday.

The vast majority of those strikes — 29,000 — have hit targets in Gaza belonging to Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and other terror groups. Another 1,000 strikes have hit terror targets in Lebanon belonging to Hezbollah.

Around 30 strikes were ordered as part of counter-terror operations in Judea and Samaria.

According to the IDF, 7,000 of the Gaza strikes were requested by Israeli ground forces.

The IDF acknowledged strikes on targets in Syria belonging to Iran and its proxy militias but did not specify a number.

The military also said that 26,000 of the airstrikes were carried out by fighter jets, while attack helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) each accounted for around 3,800.

At least 1,200 people were killed and 240 Israelis and foreigners were taken hostage in Hamas’s attacks on Israeli communities near the Gaza border on October 7. Of the remaining 134 hostages, Israel recently declared 31 of them dead.
