Jerusalem, 1 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Emergency response crews in Beit Shemesh continued to search for survivors in the rubble of a building hit by an Iranian missile on Sunday evening.

At least nine people were killed while Fire and Rescue Services said more than 70 civilians were rescued from the area. Three were seriously injured, three suffered moderate injuries and 43 had minor injuries.

“Hundreds of meters around the impact site have been devastated,” said Fire Commissioner Major General Eyal Caspi, who is overseeing the response on the ground. “Our crews will remain here for many more hours to conduct a full assessment and carry out complex rescue and recovery operations.”

Thirty-five fire crews are currently working at the scene, with emergency services warning that additional casualties cannot yet be ruled out. Authorities confirmed that hazardous materials have not been involved in the incident.

Witnesses described scenes of chaos and heavy damage to buildings, with residents being evacuated from surrounding areas. “We are focused on locating anyone still trapped and ensuring everyone receives medical attention as quickly as possible,” Caspi added.
