The Bulgarian defense industry employs more than 70 thousand people, and the sector has an important economic and social significance, Economy Minister Nikola Stoyanov said on Tuesday at the opening of the Annual AFCEA (Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association) TechNet Sofia 2022 Conference in the Central Military Club in Sofia.
This year’s AFCEA Sofia Chapter, entitled “Modernization of the Bulgarian Army’s Weapons and Equipment. Stoyanov said that Bulgarian companies actively participate and perform successfully both in highly competitive international NATO tenders and in current European programs with a focus on defense. He added that this sector is competitive and has its place in a high-tech European industry.
