Police identify creator, admin of scandalous Telegram chat group

The Interior Ministry’s Cybercrime and Digital Forensic Department has identified the creator of the so called ‘Public Room’ chat group on Telegram and one of the administrators.

In a press release on Tuesday, the Interior Ministry revealed only their initials, D.K. and M.P. Both are from Skopje.

“The investigation continues to identify the others who have served as administrators and moderators in the chat group. They were taken in for questioning. Additional consultation will take place tomorrow with a prosecutor and the Ministry will present the evidence it has collected,” said the press release.

In addition, the Interior Ministry in cooperation with Telegram is conducting activities to shut down the chat group and collect further evidence.

“The chat had some 8,000 members, but the number has dropped recently. There have been nearly 800 photos and videos, shared from Facebook and Instagram, but there are private photos and videos as well,” Interior Minister Nakje Chulev told a news conference earlier in the day.
