Polish Jets Intercept Russian Reconnaissance Plane For Second Time This Week
Jerusalem, 30 October, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- (PAP) – Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz, visiting Kartuzy, announced on Thursday that Polish MiG-29 fighters intercepted a Russian reconnaissance aircraft over the Baltic Sea. “Today, MiG-29s intercepted a Russian reconnaissance aircraft over the Baltic Sea, just like yesterday,” the Defense Minister said.
Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized that the threat to Poland comes from the east, from the Russian Federation. “Anyone who engages in anti-German and anti-Ukrainian rhetoric today, stirring up such sentiments, is acting against the interests of the Polish state,” the Minister of National Defense said.
“You need complete amateurs on the other side, either cynical politicians who exploit emotions or who build such emotions,” added the deputy prime minister.
On Wednesday, the Operational Command reported that on Tuesday, a pair of Polish MiG-29 fighters on duty intercepted a Russian Il-20 aircraft carrying out a reconnaissance mission over the Baltic Sea in international airspace without a filed flight plan and with a switched-off transponder.
As emphasized, no violation of Polish airspace was recorded.
In recent months, there have been numerous violations of Polish airspace and provocations in the Baltic Sea.
