President Pendarovski Meets German Foreign Ministry Official Schütz

Jerusalem, 10 March, 2020 (TPS) -- President Stevo Pendarovski met Tuesday with Susanne Schütz, Director for South-East Europe, Turkey and EFTA States in the German Federal Foreign Office and discussed overall relations between North Macedonia and Germany which are characterized by sincere friendship, mutual respect and understanding.

The interlocutors reaffirmed their interest in further expanding and promoting cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, especially in the economic sphere, Pendarovski’s cabinet said in a press statement.

Pendarovski voiced satisfaction with Germany’s significant support to our European and Euro-Atlantic path, expressed through their open, strong and principled commitment to a positive decision on the start of EU accession negotiations. He noted that the country has shown the high democratic capacity and political maturity in the past by implementation of important reform processes and promotion of good neighbourly relations, in order to ensure stability and security in the region, expressing the belief that North Macedonia would soon get a long-awaited date to start accession negotiations, the press statement reads.

They also exchanged views on challenges arising from the refugees and migrant crisis, whereat Pendarovski stressed that North Macedonia is closely monitoring the situation and is taking measures and activities to successfully cope with the crisis.
