President Pendarovski meets with heads of religious communities

President Stevo Pendarovski on Tuesday held a meeting with the heads and representatives of the religious communities, his office said.

Coexistence and to respect diversities is at the very core of the country, President Pendarovski said.

“The President underscored his commitment to cooperating with all religious communities in North Macedonia in the interest of mutual understanding and tolerance. President Pendarovski pointed out the importance of the role the heads of the religious communities play in fostering coexistence, being a key precondition for prosperity and progress of the country,” said the press release.

Welcoming the initiative for organizing today’s meeting, the heads and representatives of the religious communities noted that despite their religious differences, they all shared the same objective – to build peace and respect.

Participants in the meeting included HH Stefan, Head of the Macedonian Orthodox Church-Ohrid Archbishopric, Reis Ul Ulema Haxhi Sulejman Efendi Rexhepi, Head of the Islamic Religious Community, Bishop Kiro Stojanov, Head of the Catholic Church, Mihail Cekov of the Evangelical Methodist Church, and Berta Romano Nikolikj, Head of the Jewish Community in North Macedonia. Darjan Sotirovski, Head of the Commission for Relations with Religious Communities and Groups, was also in attendance.
