Red Cross: Returning Capitives in ‘Good Condition’

Public By Pesach Benson • 19 January, 2025

Jerusalem, 19 January, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- The Red Cross said that the three kidnapped Israeli women Doron Steinbrecher, Romi Gonen and Emily Damari, have been handed over to its team and is now making its way to Israel.

At the border, the women will be reunited with their mothers and then flown to the Sheba-Tel Hashomer Medical Center in Ramat Gan.

The Red Cross told Israeli forces that the returnees are in “good condition.”

Meanwhile, the Israeli Prison Service is gearing up to release the imprisoned terrorists. The 90 prisoners are now at the Ofer Prison north of Jerusalem. The Red Cross will transport them to release points in Judea, Samaria and eastern Jerusalem after Steinbrecher, Gonen and Damari arrive.

The first phase of the ceasefire will see 33 Israeli hostages freed over several weeks in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian terrorists imprisoned in Israel. The exact number will depend on how many of the 33 hostages are alive.

Negotiations over the fate of the remaining 65 hostages will begin on the 16th day of ceasefire.

At least 1,200 people were killed, and 252 Israelis and foreigners were taken hostage in Hamas’s attacks on Israeli communities near the Gaza border on October 7. Of the 95 remaining hostages, more than 30 have been declared dead.
