Jerusalem, 8 October, 2017 (TPS) -- Sirens sounded in the north-western Negev region Sunday night as a rocket was fired into Israeli territory for the first time in some two months.
An army spokesperson said the rocket was fired toward an open field and did not cause any damage or injuries. IDF forces conducted search for remains of the rocket, but it apparently fell within Palestinian territory inside the Gaza Strip.
“Unfortunately, the holiday atmosphere was disrupted in a number of communities by sirens, but thankfully no rockets hit,” said the head of the Eshkol Regional Council Gadi Yarkoni.
Sirens also sounded Saturday night in what turned out to be a false alarm.
