Jerusalem, 14 January, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Astana (Kazinform) – Baktygali Erlanuly, a 7th grade student at Astana Lyceum No. 38, has developed a smart trash can, Kazinform reports, citing the press service of the capital’s akimat.

A young inventor who is interested in everything new and cares about cleanliness in public places has automated the trash cans in his home. The body of the trash can is equipped with a lid that opens automatically when a person brings his hand to it, and closes again after five seconds.

“I think that opening the lid of the trash can with your hands is not hygienic. After all, invisible microbes can remain on the lid, which can then enter the human body. That’s why I decided to make a lid that opens itself,” explains Baktygali.

A student who dreams of becoming a journalist in the future said that he is already studying scientific discoveries and learning how to publish them.

Earlier it was reported that Astana resident Saulebek Alidan became the absolute winner of the scientific Olympiad in the international arena.
