Jerusalem, 7 June, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Baku (AZERTAC) Advanced water management and water metering technology in Azerbaijan has been installed and put into operation for the first time in the Agstafa district.
This was reported to AZERTAC by the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency (ADSEA).
The opening ceremony was attended by Ilgar Gulmammadov, Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency, Mushfig Huseynov, First Deputy Head of the Agstafa District Executive Power, Zakir Guliyev, Chairman of the Board of the Regional Water Reclamation Service operating under ADSEA, Peeter Pelisaar, Representative of Rubicon Water for Central Asia and Azerbaijan, Anar Orujov, Director of Lotus Global LLC, the official distributor of Australia’s Rubicon Water in Azerbaijan, representatives of the Agency and village residents.
It was noted that Rubicon Water’s advanced water management and water metering technology was applied for the first time in Azerbaijan by Lotus Global LLC, in cooperation with the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency, on a canal located in the Hasansu village of Agstafa district.
The installed system covers 668 hectares of agricultural land and serves the water supply of the villages of Ashagi Goyjali, Yenigün and Khatai. A SlipMeter SMB-600-1800 type control device has been installed within the project. The device measures the volume of water passing through the canal in real time based on ultrasonic technology and transmits the data to a digital system, allowing for complete transparency in water distribution. Thus, water accounting between Water User Associations and farmers is carried out with high accuracy, the principle of fair turnout is maintained and timely delivery of water resources is ensured.
