By Michael Zeff/TPS • 8 March, 2016

Jerusalem, 8 March, 2016 (TPS) -- Petach Tikva (TPS) – Israeli police and Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics received an emergency call about a fight between two adult men in the city of Petach Tikva shortly before 5:00 PM.

Senior MDA paramedic Azriel Gross said that a religious Jewish man in his forties was sitting on the ground after having sustained several stab wounds to his upper body.

“We immediately administered medical treatment at the scene before evacuating him by ambulance to a nearby hospital. A young man in his twenties was lying unconscious next to him on the ground,” said Gross.

According to an Israeli police spokesperson, police officers arriving at the scene opened fire on the armed attacker and killed him.

Several eyewitnesses at the scene claimed that the stabbing was committed as part of an altercation and a heated exchange of words between the two men.

A police spokesperson confirmed shortly after the incident that the stabbing was terror-related.
