Tamar Zandberg to Talk Tough on the Environment at OECD Meeting in Paris
Jerusalem, 30 September, 2021 (TPS) -- Israel’s Minister of Environmental Protection Tamar Zanberg will represent Israel at the meeting of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development OECD to be held in Paris next week. Zandberg will represent Israel in a session on the climate crisis and green growth, led by the US Presidential Envoy for Climate Affairs, John Kerry.
Tamar Zandberg said, “The meeting of OECD ministers in Paris will take place in the shadow of the worsening climate crisis that threatens our national security and international stability. Israel’s unique position and being a start-up nation give it an important role from regional collaborations to the development of green technologies to be used by the countries of the world. For prosperity and improving the quality of our lives. ”
The session in which Minister of Environmental Protection Tamar Zandberg will participate “Building a Green Future – Towards a Carbon-Resistant Economy” will take place on October 6, 2021 at 10:00 (Paris time). The participating ministers will discuss the transition to a carbon-neutral economy, through innovation, technologies and the creation of economic and employment opportunities for all sections of the population. Ministers will also discuss the creation of inter-state and inter-sectoral collaborations on the way to a carbon-neutral global economy.
Minister of Environmental Protection Tamar Zandberg will present Israel’s aspiration to increase its involvement in international activities in the fight against the climate crisis, with an emphasis on the issue of climate innovation and the development of green technologies and the importance of a just social and occupational transition.
She will also make a presentation about the many actions taken by Israel recently to reduce carbon emissions, such as the government’s decision to switch to a low-carbon economy and the application of a carbon pricing mechanism.
The MCM – Ministerial Council Meeting is the most senior forum of the OECD and is attended by the ministers of the member states and other international representatives. The meeting convenes every year and this year will deal with the topic of “Common Values: Building a Green and Inclusive Future.” The meeting will focus on the need for coordinated collective action to address global challenges such as the struggle in Corona and the recovery of economies following the crisis. The meeting will also highlight the issue of tackling the climate crisis ahead of COP 26, the UN Climate Conference to be held in Glasgow in November 2021.
