Terror Arson Continues Today with 36 Fires

Jerusalem, 24 August, 2020 (TPS) -- As of 7pm Israel time today (Monday), Israel’s Fire and Rescue Services report that there have been 36 fires in Israel’s south as a result of explosive balloons launched into Israel by Gazan terrorists.

No injuries were reported.

Many of the fires were small or contained quickly. One of the notable large fires was in Kissufim in the northwestern Negev desert.

The Israel Fire and Rescue Services noted that today’s success in containing the arson fires was again aided by the cooperation of volunteers and multiple organizations including local government, the Homefront Command, the IDF, the Israel Nature and Parks Authority, and KKL-JNF.

In recent weeks, terrorists in the Gaza Strip have relaunched their campaign to send balloons tied to flammable materials and explosive charges into communities in the vicinity of the Strip.
