Jerusalem, 12 October, 2015 (TPS) -- A terrorist attempted to grab the firearm of an Israeli soldier on a bus near Jerusalem’s Chords Bridge at the entrance to the city.

After failing to seize the firearm, the terrorist then tried to strangle the soldier and eventually took out his knife and struck the soldier leaving him with light wounds. The bus came to a complete stop when a few other passengers attempted to subdue the terrorist.

Police forces nearby immediately arrived and got onto the bus to arrest the terrorist. The terrorist had managed to take hold of one of the policeman’s firearm, which apparently fell to the floor in the policemen’s attempt to control the terrorist. Another police officer who noticed that the terrorist seized the firearm shot and killed the terrorist.

Yair Beer, an emergency medical technician from Magen David Adom happened to be passing by on his way home and immediately ran to provide medical assistance.  “I got to the young man who was about 20 years old, who suffered a stab wound to his face,” said Beer at the scene. “I put bandages on him, provided him with primary medical treatment and after only a few minutes, I transported him to a Magen David Adom ambulance that arrived in the location to evacuate him to the hospital.”

The 19 -year-old soldier who suffered stab wounds in his head and arm, is currently being treated in the trauma unit of Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital. He is conscious in light to moderate condition.
