Terrorist Killed in Beirut Airstrike Was Member of Iran’s Quds Force, Israel Says
Jerusalem, 1 April, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Israel confirmed the identity of a terrorist killed in an overnight Beirut airstrike, saying on Tuesday morning that Hassan Ali Mahmoud Bdeir was a member of both the Iranian Quds Force and Hezbollah’s Unit 3900 and coordinated attacks with Hamas.
“Bdeir recently operated in cooperation with the Hamas terrorist organization, directed Hamas terrorists, and assisted them in planning and advancing a significant and imminent terror attack against Israeli civilians,” the IDF said. “Given the immediacy of the threat, Bdeir was struck immediately in order to eliminate the threat posed by a terror attack intended to harm Israeli civilians.”
The Quds Force is an elite unit within Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps. Unit 3900, often described as Hezbollah’s most secretive branch, is primarily responsible for carrying out covert operations, infiltrations and intelligence gathering.
Bdeir was killed in an airstrike in Beirut’s Dahieh district, a Hezbollah stronghold.
The strike was the second on Beirut since a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah took effect in November. The Israeli Air Force struck Beirut on Friday after two rockets were fired at northern Israel.
