Thessaloniki conference on Western Balkans’ EU prospects

Jerusalem, 25 February, 2020 (TPS) -- Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov will take part in a high-level conference on the European perspective of the Western Balkans titled “From Thessaloniki to Zagreb” in Thessaloniki on Monday.

The forum, hosted by Greek FM Nikos Dendias, will also include Croatian FM Gordan Grlic-Radman, whose country currently holds the EU Presidency, Bulgarian FM Ekaterina Zaharieva, Italian FM Luigi di Maio, Kosovo FM Glauk Konjufca, Slovenian FM Miro Cerar, Serbian FM Ivica Dacic, Montenegro FM Srdjan Darmanovic, Albania’s acting FM Edi Rama, Bosnia-Herzegovina Deputy PM Josip Brkic, State Secretary for European Affairs at the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Iulia Raluca Matei, along with Secretary General of the European External Action Service Helga Schmid.

The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said the event is a culmination of many initiatives by Athens for the promotion of the Western Balkans’ European path.

Athens sees the conference as “Greece’s dynamic return to the Balkans, demonstrating its leading role in the region and contributing to the efforts for revitalization of the EU enlargement process.”
