Jerusalem, 26 February, 2018 (TPS) -- Three men from the Arab-Israeli town of Umm al-Fahm have been arrested after plotting to carry out terror attacks within Israel in the name of the Islamic State. The three were named as Muhammad Jabarin (21), Ammad Jabarin (20), and an unnamed minor.

According to the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), the three planned on carrying out a shooting attack at the Al-Aqsa mosque on the Temple Mount, similar to the one carried out in July, also by residents of Umm al-Fahm, in which two policemen were killed. The attack was to be in the name of the Islamic State.

The three also discussed carrying out attacks against ‘infidels’ around various other holy sites. Among possible attacks discussed was a joint stabbing and ramming attack against Christians in Nazareth during Christmas.

“The Shin Bet views Israelis seeking to join the Islamic State as a most serious threat, especially those who act to carry out actions in the name of the organization within Israel,” the Shin Bet said in a statement.
