US Financing Hamas Via UNRWA

Jerusalem, 14 February, 2017 (TPS) -- Israel Army Radio (Galei Tzahal) has reported that USAID contributions to UNRWA have ended up financing Hamas activities.

According to the report, Shurat Hadin, a right wing legal activist NGO has obtained videos of Hamas organized activities in schools USAID have helped UNRWA to fund.

The videos show elementary school and junior high students participating in Hamas organized activities in the schools. These include virulent anti-Semitic indoctrination, and weapons training.

The video shows the kids, in Hamas uniforms participating in military drills using fake targets of Israeli tanks and soldiers.

Shurat Din Chairperson Nitzana Dershner-Leitner described the videos as “shocking and appalling” and said it is inconceivable that US government funds are finding their way to a virulently anti-American anti-Israeli and anti-Semitic Jihadist movement.

USAID is a State Department agency, which means if its contributions to UNRWA end up in Hamas’ hands, this is a gross violation of both US law and US policy.

A senior GOP official has said that this disclosure could add further momentum to the administration’s moves to reduce US funding of the UN. President Trump has already signed an executive order reducing US funding of the organization. congress is currently planning to present the President with much more far reaching legislation which would empower the White House to significantly reduce the level of US funding to the UN. “This President will not veto any such bill that comes before him”, he said.

He also said that he was confident the administration would assiduously investigate USAID’s operations, and that if it was discovered that agency officials were aware of what was going on, it could have serious ramifications.
