Wildfire Scorches 5,000 Acres in Bulgaria’s Burgas Region, Police Launch Probe
Jerusalem, 28 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Marinka (BTA) – About 5,000 acres of arable agricultural land, pastures and two private properties have burned in the lands of the Burgas villages of Marinka, Izvor and Tvarditsa as a result of the fire that broke out two days ago, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Burgas announced.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire started in the northeastern part of the affected area and, under the influence of strong winds, spread southeast, crossing the Burgas – Malko Tarnovo road. A private property with unusable greenhouses was affected.
The fire also engulfed another private property, destroying a car, a tourist caravan, a newly built outbuilding and its inventory. The property is owned by a 41-year-old woman from Burgas.
Several teams from the Regional Fire Safety and Civil Protection Service, volunteers, owners and users of agricultural land participated in extinguishing the fire.
Stubble fields in the villages of Izvor and Tvarditsa were also destroyed. The value of the damage is being clarified.
Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case.
The Burgas police also reported two fires that broke out yesterday in the region. One broke out in the village of Veselie, Primorsko Municipality, where the roof structure of a two-story residential building on G. S. Rakovski Street was destroyed. A short circuit in the electrical installation is cited as the probable cause.
The second incident was registered in the village of Vresovo, Ruen municipality, where a private house burned down.
