Youth and Volunteer Activities Should Be a Top Priority in Education Ministry Policies – Minister Tsokov
Jerusalem, 20 June, 2023 (TPS) -- SOFIA, 20.06.2023 (BTA)
During a discussion with representatives of the National Youth Forum, Minister of Education and Science Galin Tsokov said that youth and voluntary activities should be a top priority in the policies of his ministry, the press centre of the Ministry of Education and Science reported. Tsokov stressed the importance of holding one of his first meetings as a minister with one of the main national youth organizations.
“Analyses show that in the current post-covid schools, along with modern technology and artificial intelligence, social learning and emotional intelligence will also be developed. They are formed from an early age, and youth centers have a key role in this process,” said Tsokov. In this regard, a project under the Recovery and Resilience Plan for the construction of youth centers in various cities of the country, as well as the National Focus Centre for the Personal Development of Children and Youth in Sofia, were discussed. A total of BGN 70 million has been earmarked for these activities, but at the moment there is a significant delay in the preparations.
“One of the urgent tasks before me and my team is to speed up the processes so that we not only absorb the European funding, but also turn the initiative into a working project that will give a new look at youth policies,” said the Minister of Education.
The conversation also focused on trainings for youth workers, educational mediators and other employees from centers around the country that will be held at the National Centre in the capital. The events will offer coordination and monitoring of activities with children and young people connected to basic principles of democracy, knowledge of human rights, the rule of law, purposeful development of civil participation and others.
