2 Bombs Tied to Balloons Explode in Israeli Community Near Gaza
Gaza-based Terrorists on Wednesday launched two explosive charges tied to balloons towards the Eshkol Region near the border with the Strip. The charges exploded in midair above an Israeli community but caused no injuries or damage.
The terrorists in Gaza have increased their attacks on the Israeli communities surrounding the Strip in recent days, prompting the IDF to attack Hamas targets in response.
Fmr. Chief Rabbi Released from Prison
Former Chief Rabbi Yona Metzger was released from prison on Wednesday after a parole committee reduced his sentence by a third.
Metzger began serving his term in May 2017 after being convicted of receiving bribes totaling NIS five million and other corruption charges.
He served 22 months of a 41-month sentence.
IDF Repairs Water Line in PA Village
The pipe supplying water to the Arab village of Mikhmas was swept away by the heavy rains that fell in the area this week.
The IDF’s Civil Administration’s Water Coordinator on Tuesday cooperated with the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) Water Authority on emergency repair operations on the pipe to restore water to the village.
The operation was supervised by the IDF’s Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), which is responsible for the implementation of Israel’s civil and humanitarian policy in Judea and Samaria and vis-à-vis the Gaza Strip.
Israel to Alabama after Deadly Tornado: ‘We Stand with You’
Israel conveyed its condolence to the State of Alabama after an EF-4 tornado with extremely strong winds ripped through the state and killed 23 people.
“Our hearts and thoughts are with the people of Alabama as they cope with this tragedy. Israel stands by you,” the foreign ministry tweeted.
IAF Bombs Hamas Posts in Gaza in Response to Arson Balloon Attack
Israel Air Force (IAF) helicopters on Monday attacked two Hamas posts in the southern Gaza Strip in response to a cluster of balloons carrying an explosive device launched by Gaza-based terrorists towards Israel.
A spokesperson for the Eshkol Regional Council, in which the explosive charge landed, stated that the balloon landed between two homes and exploded on the ground, causing no injuries or damage. No one was home at the time of the attack.
This is the second Israeli strike in Gaza in the past 24 hours and the fourth in a week.
