Edelestein: Elections likely to take place April 9

Elections for the 21st Knesset will most likely take place on April 9, Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein said Monday. Edelstein added that if that was the case, then the opening session of the 21st Knesset would not take place two weeks after elections, the traditional protocol, due to the recess for the Passover holiday and would instead take place on April  30.

Moshe ‘Bogi’ Ya’alon announces new party

Former Defense Minister and IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen (res.) Moshe ‘Bogi’ Ya’alon announced that he is forming a new political party on Tuesday.

“It is our time to take responsibility,” he wrote on Twitter, “I call upon you to join me and bring hope to Israel.”
Ya’alon served as Defense Minister on behalf of the Likud party from 2013 to 2016, when he resigned in protest of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s decision to hand the role over the Avigdor Liberman and appoint Ya’alon Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Justice Ministry: Pushing up of elections will not affect work on Netanyahu cases

The legal process pertaining to the three cases in which Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is implicated, will not be affected by the decision to move up the 2019 elections from November to April, the Justice Ministry said  on Tuesday.

“The work on the cases is continuing as planned,” read a statement by the ministry, adding that the process is a professional one, which is not affected by political happenings.

 

Coalition Heads Move to Disband Knesset – Elections To Be Held in April

Israel’s general elections will be held in April, seven months ahead of their scheduled date in November 2019, the Coalition party heads decided on Monday afternoon, after being unsuccessful in finding a compromise for the Draft Law which would appease all Coalition members.
