Coalition Chairman: ‘we are in the midst of a coup’

“The state of Israel is in the midst of a coup,” Coalition Chairman David Bitan told Ynet News on Monday, in regards to the police recommendation to indicate Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu  on charges of bribery in Case 4000.

“We are in the midst of a coup here in Israel,” said Bitan, “This is a selective investigation aimed at toppling the prime minister,” he added.

Netanyahu to meet US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Brussels Monday Evening

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will leave for Brussels shortly to  meet with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
In the meeting, which  has been set last week , “the two  will discuss regional developments” , Prime Minister Office wrote  in a statement.
 Prime Minister Netanyahu will be accompanied by Mossad Director Yossi Cohen, National Security Council Director Meir Ben-Shabbat, and his Military Secretary, Brig.-Gen. Avi Blot.

Yesh Atid Chairman MK Yair Lapid on police recommendations against Netanyahu:

“It is a sad day for every Israeli citizen, whether he voted Likud or not, in which the prime minister is accused of such serious crimes as a result of too many years in power. The State of Israel can not continue with the prime minister under charges, lawyers’ meetings, serious suspicions. The Likud must choose someone else from its ranks who will lead the country until the elections.”

Syrian media report air strike south of Damascus

Syrian media have reported that air defenses were activated during an aerial strike on targets in the Kiswa area south of Damascus. State media said several missiles had been intercepted.
